AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The Society for Youth Development (SYD) is a registered nonprofit Trust set up in the year 1978, with the following aims & objectives amongst others.

1. To undertake activities for the welfare of underprivileged youth, children, women and aged.

2. To establish training centers, health centers, hostels, home for aged and working women.

3. To help poor women, widows, distressed women, dropouts in getting employment and self employment.

SANJEEVAN COMPLEX

Set in a pristine location with a view of the domes of the temples of Shree Naguesh, Shree Mahalaxmi and Shree Shantadurga at Kavlem and St. Roques Church. the construction of the building was undertaken in a phased manner. The construction of the complex, which now houses the various activities of the organization, was started on 29th October 2001, on a 5000 sq. mt., hilly plot of land allotted to the Society for Youth Development by the Communidade of Bandora with the approval of Government of Goa.

The complex has 3 wings

Administrative block - Built by the assistance from our donors, the Block is named as "Helga Winter Unitt". This block houses the Administrative Office, Meeting Hall, Vanaprastha Ashram, Kitchen, Staff accommodation, the Handicrafts and Geriatric Unit.

Arogyadham - Spread over ground, first and second floor, this block, also built with the valuable assistance of Donors, accommodates the inmates of Arogyadham (Recovery Home).

Training Block - Built under the MP LAD scheme, it houses all the training activities of our organisation. This block is named as "Sanjeevan Tantra-Niketan". Currently training in Home Nursing, Electrical Wiring, Soft Toys, Embroidery, Coir Products, Handicrafts, etc. is imparted here. It also houses Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Health Clinic and the newly established CherYsh Institute of Women Empowerment.

SANJEEVAN HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL

From 2013-14 Sanjeevan has started Higher Secondary School (vocational stream) recognized by Goa Government and affiliated to Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim. The name of course is Health Science. After passing XII std, of this course the students get ample opportunities for self employment and Job recruitment in Govt. and Private Hospitals. It is partly financially supported by the CherYsh Foundation with its office at Bangalore.

5. In Ponda and around, this is in the only H.S.S. having this Nursing Course

The student Nurses during this HCA (Nursing) Course are trained for more than six months in the sub district hospital Ponda under the guidance of doctors & qualified nurses.

During this course the students have to go on job training in the various hospitals private or government of their choice & have to successful complete the training and get certificate from the doctors of the hospital concerned On job training is part of syllabus and compulsory. The student nurses also have to visit the community for the health and hygiene survey in the villages for creating awareness among the villagers of various vaccinations, cleanliness, proper hygiene & family planning etc.
